Wow, that headline gave me a serious headache. AMD and nVidia are not partnering, this article is about partnerships they have independently with development companies.

Agreed, the headline is quite misleading. I think it should be NVIDIA, AMD announce rather than an ampersand. Definitely clicked on the story with a "holy shit are NVIDIA and AMD partnering with each other in some way?"

Sorry about that. Obviously I didn't intend for the article title to be confusing like that. I've gone ahead and modified it slightly.

Why is this story in the AMD center? Isn't that only for AMD specific news?
  • Trefugl - Thursday, March 20, 2014 - link

Personally, I'm tired of these AMD Center pipeline articles... not because it puts up all the AMD stuff everywhere (even if it's almost inappropriate in non-AMD centric articles like this one), but because I can't get to other pipeline on the side. Can you please, please, put the pipeline stories in the side below the AMD stuff so I don't have to go back a page just to click on the next pipeline story?

AMD really need to get Mantle into UE4, given the interesting licensing news lately. Shouldn't be overly difficult since the source code is easy to obtain.

i woulod love to see Crytek releasing Mantle patches for their old games ( C, C:W, C2) . Everybody loves these games.
C2 will benefit immensely from Mantle on 2 core systems.
C and C:W should get some boost on 2 core systems

But Titanfall already plays in 4K...
  • nathanddrews - Thursday, March 20, 2014 - link

So, DX12 will be supported by 4th Gen Intel IGP, AMD GCN/GCN1.1, and Kepler/Maxwell... Superb multi-core enhancements, lower overhead, closer to the metal. Shoulda guess MS wouldn't let anyone else steal the show.

OMG... AND Fermi??? Nicely done, NVIDIA.
  • nezuko - Thursday, March 20, 2014 - link

Wow, nVidida seems to win the partnership project with UE4. honestly, almost 80 % previous game (for PS3, XBOX 360, and PC) are UE3 based game engine. So, unreal 4 is likely have tremendous effect in PS4, X1, and DX12 PC. AMD should partners with Unreal. And some proprietary game engine like DUNIA ENGINE, ANVIL, JADE, CHROME, idTech engine.
  • Antronman - Sunday, March 30, 2014 - link

    Completely, absolutely not true.
The majority of the games were not made with UE3.
And besides, almost every game that was made with UE3 uses Havok for physics. And will continue to do so, as it is considered #1 on the market by many.

Integrated Mantle on UE4 would be really awesome. But PhysX?...yeah, I think I'll stick to preferring Havok.
